Nelson clinic

Osteopathic care, in downtown Nelson.

Manual osteopathy in Nelson — for back and neck pain, headaches, post-concussion symptoms, sports recovery, and the deep-set tension that builds up over years on the trails, at the desk, or on the water. Hands-on, almost always gentle, and aimed at the root rather than the symptom.

Your practitioner

Eli Mead, D.O.M.P.

I'm a Registered Osteopathic Manual Practitioner based in Nelson. My approach is whole-person and patient-centred — I look for where motion has been lost in the body and work to restore it, rather than chasing symptoms.

I started practising in 2016, and I've spent the years since refining the work — what it can and can't do, when to use which technique, and how to read what a body is telling you. Most of my Nelson patients come from town and the immediate area: Rosemont, Fairview, Uphill, the North Shore, Blewett, Salmo, and the Slocan Valley.

The work is hands-on, precise, and almost always gentle. If you've tried other manual therapies and felt that something was missed, osteopathy often picks up exactly that.

First visit

What to expect.

One hour, every time

All sessions are 60 minutes — first visit and follow-ups alike. The first visit includes intake and a full-body assessment alongside treatment, so the session length stays consistent.

Loose, comfortable clothes

Wear what you can move in. Yoga pants, athletic shorts, t-shirt or tank. Treatment is hands-on but doesn't usually require disrobing.

Two to four sessions, usually

For most acute and sub-acute presentations, two to four sessions resolve the bulk of the issue. Long-standing patterns take longer but should change meaningfully inside the first few visits.

24-hour cancellation

Please give 24 hours' notice for cancellations or changes. Inside that window, the session is charged at full rate — the time rarely fills on short notice.

Coverage

Most major plans cover osteopathic treatment.

Pacific Blue Cross, Manulife, Sun Life, Green Shield, Desjardins, and most other major Canadian extended-health plans include osteopathic manual therapy. Worth checking your specific plan before your first visit.
